The phone is the first Nexus in a while and some may think that this shows just how bad Nexus phones are now. However, this review will show just how well made this phone is and how much of an improvement over last year's Nexus 4. The Good: 1. Incredible build quality The Nexus 5 is built like a tank. No bend, no creaking, no popping. The chassis is solid and sturdy and for a phone this size it is pretty amazing to have so little flex and not a single crease. The finish is aluminum with an anodized case on top. The glass is Gorilla Glass 3. 2. Android 4.4, KitKat Yes, I know that Android 4.4, KitKat was released on other devices last week, but this is my phone, so it's on the phone! Also, if you are really going to compare this phone to last year's Nexus, it's because it's running KitKat, so it's the same thing in the end. 4.4.4, however, is the stable version of KitKat and that's what I recommend if you are going to buy this phone. 3. Superphone-like screen The Nexus 5 features a 4.95" display, making it a superphone with a size of 7.9mm. This is smaller than the 4.7" iPhone 5, but is slightly larger than the 5" Sony Z3. There is 2K resolution on the display, but it's also the same resolution on the Galaxy S5, HTC One M8 and also the Nexus 7 2013. The pixels are not as large as they are on the Retina displays, but they are sharp and bright. 4. A big battery The Nexus 5 is a big phone. However, it's not a large phone. It measures 156.5 x 80.7 x 7.9mm. That's half the size of an iPhone 5 and just a bit bigger than the Galaxy S5. There are no expansion slots or any such things like that, but this phone is still very light, under 100g. The Nexus 5 is the first smartphone to come with a 3500 mAh battery, making it a pretty big battery. 5. Customized UI with themes One of the big complaints about the Galaxy S5 is that it does not have a customizable UI. You cannot change the home screen, launcher or anything.
